VP Bank appoints Singapore branch co-heads
Reto Marx, Thomas Rupf both seasoned bankers with more than 20 years of financial services expertise

Boutique private bank VP Bank Singapore, the Asian branch of the Liechtenstein-based VP Bank Group, has appointed Reto Marx and Thomas Rupf as its co-heads, with responsibility for, the bank says, “continuing its focus on fostering synergies between the intermediaries and private banking client segments to leverage the city-state’s financial infrastructure, strategic location and regulatory environment to focus on opportunities in a targeted manner in the fast-growing Asian markets.”

Asia, the bank adds, remains an important region for VP Bank Group, with Singapore serving as a strategic cornerstone for its growth trajectory.

Both Marx and Rupf are seasoned bankers, each with more than 20 years of experience and expertise in the financial services industry.

Marx is an experienced financial professional with a solid background in asset management and investments, who will serve as Singapore co-head in addition to his current role as chief risk officer for Asia. As co-head Singapore, he is responsible for the overall strategic direction, corporate growth and operational management of the Singapore branch.

Prior to his current role, Marx held several key positions at VP Bank, including head of intermediaries and private banking Singapore, head of Hong Kong, and head of product and solutions Asia a.i. His career spans more than three decades, with notable positions at UBS Wealth Management, Bank Sarasin-Rabo ( Asia ) and Credit Suisse. His expertise includes managing ultra-high-net-worth clients, intermediaries and leading regional teams across Asia-Pacific.

Rupf is an internationally accomplished banking industry executive, who will serve as Singapore co-head in addition to his current role as chief investment officer for Asia. As co-head Singapore, he is responsible for the overall strategic direction, corporate growth and operational management of the Singapore branch.

In his role as chief investment officer Asia, Rupt oversees and leads the team in supporting the intermediaries and private banking clients in Asia through the development and marketing of investment ideas and solutions. He is also responsible for the management of the trading desk in Asia. 

Rupf joined VP Bank Group in 2007 and has more than 20 years of experience in the wealth management industry in Asia and Europe. He has worked in various areas of trading, investment consulting and investment advisory.
